altbanq is an alternative finance provider that was launched to fund businesses faster and more reliably than traditional financing sources. altbanq is comprised of industry veterans with the shared goal of providing small business owners with the resources needed to build a solid financial foundation to grow their business.

N.B. This is not a summer internship. Interns must be available to attend the internship on-site during the year and should be committed to the role on a long-term (i.e. > 12 months) basis.

Salary range: $16.5-$25 per hour

Job responsibilities (N.B. this is a non-exhaustive list - interns may be required to perform other tasks, depending on the requirements of altbanq):
  • Work closely with the altbanq team, especially the COO to execute on strategic initiatives
  • Conduct online research in line with the company’s operational or strategic plans
  • Assists with reviewing financial documents for the underwriting of potential funding deals
  • Assist with compiling capital account statements for investors
  • Complete ad hoc tasks, as required

What we’re looking for:
  • An undergraduate student currently studying Finance, Economics, Business, Project Management or a related subject in the United States, preferably New York City, who has a minimum GPA of 3.5 and an excellent extracurricular record from a strong academic institution.
  • A candidate who shows a strong and evident passion for the financial sector, particularly the private credit and payments industry
  • The candidate should be available to attend the internship on-site at altbanq’s Midtown Manhattan office for at least 20 hours a week. Flexibility with alternative schedules can be provided, but a candidate with a consistent and predictable availability for the role is highly preferred.
  • The student should be committed to the role on a long-term basis (i.e. 12 months or more), as the role involves working actively on both short- and long-term projects

  • Be a creative problem solver, possess strong organizational and project management skills, and demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Be a quick-learner and show a willingness to step out of their comfort zone to tackle new challenges and tasks
  • Demonstrate high degrees of professionalism
  • Be a good communicator and work well in both an independent and team-based environment
  • Be disciplined, hard-working and punctual
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have good quantitative ability
